Combined hairpin line shapes

I would like the addition of two new hairpin line shapes. The first would be a crescendo followed by a diminuendo. The second would be a diminuendo followed by a crescendo, each of these shapes combined into a single line. These new lines would provide a quick and simple way to create a hairpin up followed by a hairpin down or hairpin down followed by a hairpin up where it is required that these appear on a single ...more »

Trill variations

Although trills are adjustable via the inspector, it would be great to have a variety of trill lines (sharp, flat, natural, 1/2, etc.) that play back appropriately. It would also be great if pieces without key signature ("atonal") would default to semitone trills, rather than diatonic ones.

Redesign the Lines & Text Styles Drop-Down "Menus"

If we have to keep the Ribbon, please redesign the drop-down "menus" for Lines and Text Styles. They are almost impossible to comprehend. They're not divided by system vs. staff anymore, which was very helpful when teaching the program, and logical when using the program. There is also way too much information in them - especially the text styles - way too much text in there to figure out what box you need to choose. ...more »

double click text of lines to edit

It would be very handy and intuitive to be able to edit i.e. 1st/2nd ending lines by double-clicking and simply entering text. Usually you have to create custom line styles to create a "1.-x." and "on cue" ending. Same would apply to rit. or accel. lines. There is a bunch of neat presets for it, but with this simple text-entry trick, you could save a lot of time looking for the right preset!

System Lines - Vertical Positions

I've never understood why we are able to manipulate system text styles into appearing at very specific system object positions, but we can't do the same for system lines. There should be a way to edit a system line's vertical position, so that we can tell Sibelius to automatically put a system line at very specific system object positions (or not), just like we can do in Edit > Text Styles for System Text.

Incorrect playback of octave lines

I write classical piano music and often have many pages within the same 8va octave lines. Unfortunately, Sibelius only plays back the correct higher octave if the playback is begun from the 1st bar of the 8va. Starting from any subsequent bar under the 8va line, the notes are played incorrectly, an octve too low, i.e. they sound as if there were *no* 8va lines

Bring back multi-arc slurs

Perhaps not as a direct reincarnation but as a locking handle that can be used to join slurs together for complex shapes. If the slurs could adopt to their new state with a unified line thickness so the ends don't taper at the connecting joins, that would make my day.

Alternatively just include a pen tool a la Illustrator so we can draw our own custom lines with beziers and splines.

Need option to have system "line" behave like System Text

Certain markings such as Accel., rit., ral. and so on need to be able to appear in multiple parts of the score system similar to system object text like Allegro, etc. Currently, because these other markings contain variable line extensions, they appear in the Line menu. Unfortunately, when placed in the score they do not properly repeat on parts below the top line. There is a need to add an option (in the Inspector would ...more »

Saving user-created system lines across sessions

Like most people the music I create uses repeat endings. Many times I need custom endings such as 1.-3. or 4., which don't seem to exist in the default list of system lines. I can create them in a session and use them but the next time I launch Sibelius (7.5) they are gone. How do I save custom endings that I create across sessions?

Dashed lines between two notes

On the same manner that a simple tie keeps always his extremities between two notes, it should be a very useful option to have the possibility to write a dashed line between two notes of a melodic line who dumps from a staff to an other.

It's very useful for transcribers of polyphonic peaces to organ scores where artist like to follow the melodic line.
