Angled Slash Chords

Chords symbols with an alternate bass note should be at an angle, NOT right next to each other (i.e. C/B). Sibelius only allows C/B, but if you want it how it is supposed to look, it has to be done manually and is a big pain.

There is a plug-in to make them vertical, but that means a polychord, NOT a chord with an alternate bass note.

Ties for arpeggiated chords

Currently, Sibelius does not allow you to create ties between notes in an arpeggiated chord to the full blocked chord, as shown to the left. The Sibelius Reference Guide (excerpt in 2nd attachment) admits this can only be done by manually by resizing the ties. However, when the score is changed, Sibelius does not automatically resize or move the ties magnetically with the score. Arpeggiated chords are used extensively ...more »

Better space calculation for mesures with several chords texts

If you write a mesure with four or more chords, the layout tends to get cluttered, and possibly you have to adjust the space between the notes manually to resolve this problem. The Sibelius therefore also could use the chords as a reference to calculate the space between the notes and so do a cleaner layout automatically.

Independent chords and chords in parts

When extracting parts, in order to have the chords displayed in every part, I have to put chords in an invisible staff and define again all parts so that they include that staff. I would like this to be more intuitive, like making chords an special staff that might be present in every part (or may not)

Chord preview

It would be really helpful to be able to select a chord, that is notes from several staffs, and be able to play just that chord over and over while moving notes, to find good harmonies. Often in fast passages you have to slow down the tempo to hear the chords clearly, but then the playback line never keep up so it's hard to keep track of the chords played. Say you can draw a selection rectangle while holding down a ...more »

Auditioning notes and chords in scores

Adding an "Audition" feature is something most other Notators have. You keep your mouse on a note and by pressing SHIFT + Mouse click (listen to single current note sustained) or CTRL + Mouse click (ALL the notes running verticle up the score on that note's position sustained. This is extremeley needed troubleshooting finding a wrong note in a specific in the score. Maybe adding a "zooming" feature to this is a good idea...that ...more »

Chords in Parenthesis

It would be so great if you could allow chords, and slash chords, to be recognized as intelligent chords, using the command+k feature. This would make transposing a chart with chords in parenthesis much easier! Thanks!

Edit chord database (control what appears after playing)

Entering chord names via playing the chord is a great time saver. However, most of us have preferred rootless voicings. Some of these voicings produce an "OMIT phrase. This - though correct - is very annoying in most professional situations. Some chords we play are intentionally vague - gaining their character from context (usually the bass note or one's system of harmony.) In short, I'd like to personalize the chord ...more »

Capo chords Importing music from Photoscore Smartscore, formatt

I often need to import music from the above two programmes. I have several annoyances with this... most of all the capo chords become all of a sudden ff forte for F and all sorts of rubbish so they are unusable. Please fix this so you can import music and the capo chords remain as they were originally. Also why when I import music with words on it it elongates the bars and writes the bass line all over lyrics in ...more »

Tied chords after dotted rhythm in pitch-before-duration mode

I switched from Finale and I very much appreciate Sibelius's pitch-before-duration setting for note entry (Preferences > Note Input > Specify pitch, then duration) because that is my "native language." 🙂 But there's a glitch when adding TIES to CHORDS with DOTTED RHYTHM using STEP-TIME entry. Specifically, the tie is added only to the bottom note of the chord. To reproduce, make sure pitch-before-duration is on and ...more »
