Noteheads overlay when should avoid

When there are two notes of the same pitch in opposing voices (stem-up and stem-down) at the same time-point, Sibelius overlays the noteheads. This is incorrect when the notes are of differing lengths (e.g. one has a rhythm dot and the other does not): in this case the notes should be offset to avoid overlaying each other. The noteheads should overlay only when they are of identical lengths.

Instrument Changes

I would love instrument changes to be implemented properly. The process still needs refining so that key signatures for the new instrument is spaced properly with the preceding item, be it a barline, clef etc. At the moment the key signature is usually crushed in or overlapping other things requiring manual editing.

As I work on wind scores requiring doublers to change instrument I have to do this quite often.

Program Concept Makeover

I know this sounds like something drastic, and it is, but that doesn't mean I'm suggesting scrapping the whole Sibelius program and rebuilding it from scratch... that would be stupid... However, I do propose some serious changes. Andrew Noah Cap mentioned on my "New and Improved Instruments" thread that Sibelius is currently not meeting the needs of its customers, as both the engraving and the playback need serious ...more »

Features

Score-Lock feature

Sibelius should have the possibility to LOCK/UNLOCK the score, or separate features in it (notes, expressions, lines, text, etc.), in order to prevent accidental changes during review. For instance Pro tools have a useful "lock" function. With the "Lock feature" you can have a final score that can be open or sent to the publisher without feeling afraid that some notes have been changed enharmonically or some objects ...more »

Show bar rests: separate setting for score and parts

I'd love to be able to set "Show bar rests" (in Engraving Rules) separately for score and parts.

One common scenario would be to hide them in the score (for a structurally cleaner look) but show them in the parts (to go that extra mile, in order to make musicians feel at home).
