I know this is a big one, but a very careful and thorough adjustment of the dynamics that each instrument sounds at, at every given dynamic level, would be fantastic. In short balance all the instruments better, which would even mean re-recording some instruments (but not all). Some instruments are well balanced when playing slowly, but when speed increases their volume drops (clarinet for example). Some articulations ...more »
IMHO, the string sounds in Sibelius Sounds 7 are still in need of drastic improvement, even though SS7 improved slightly from SS6. They still sound somewhat acrid and metallic, with a buzzy tone. While many other of the instruments are now acceptable, the artificial string tone and poor articulations are dead giveaways when listening to a playback that this computerized performance.
Allow strings and woodwinds to play long notes without vibrato. Right now a short not is played without vibrato and a long note plays vibrato. This adds dissonance, and is inappropriate for many types of performance practice. I want a way to control vibrato either in the mixer or more ideally in the score.
Could you please improve the sounds on Scorch when playing back the score... People are selling their scores on score-exchange and a good sound is always selling point. Why not a licence-agreement with, lets say sonivox SF, so the sounds come along with the plugin installed locally on a users computer. http://www.sonivoxmi.com/ProductList.asp?new=1&lstSort=Instrument&mnu=List&lstShipCode=D&optDetail=D&lstSynthSearch=Soundfont&sfpict=1&pagetitle=SONiVOX%20-%20Soundfonts&a1b2=379988135 ...more »
While the selection in Sibelius 7.5 is pretty good, and most of the sounds in the Professional Sound Library are fantastic, I have a few more new ideas for instruments. Some have told me to use a third party VST to supply these additional instruments, but check the comments on this idea for reasons why this is not an acceptable solution in my case. Here are my suggestions for new instruments, as well as videos to demonstrate ...more »
I know this sounds like something drastic, and it is, but that doesn't mean I'm suggesting scrapping the whole Sibelius program and rebuilding it from scratch... that would be stupid... However, I do propose some serious changes. Andrew Noah Cap mentioned on my "New and Improved Instruments" thread that Sibelius is currently not meeting the needs of its customers, as both the engraving and the playback need serious ...more »
This is one of the "very cool" - category...
It might be helpful when you could select different midi-channels/sounds per voice in one staff ie. Flute and Piccolo in one staff but different sounds.
It would be great to be able to assign different playback sounds to different voices within a stave. For example I frequently make practice recordings of SA/TB music, and would love to be able to assign a different voice (and volume level) to the Sops to that of the Altos, without having to split out the music into S/A/T/B.
Multiple trills in Sibelius 7 sounds results in garbage on playback. The trills do not terminate after the note ends and make the following note or notes trill. After two or three trills the trill then continues in all following notes for about 4 bars.
In addition to the vast sound library that Sibelius offers, I would like to propose that the software should include additional sounds such as: an accordion/bandoneon set, additional woodwind instruments (such as bass saxophone, Japanese wind instruments, Latin-American instruments and oboe d'amore), additional brass instruments (such as a cimbasso and contrabass trombone), additional string instruments (such as a Koto, ...more »
Direct integration with sample libraries like east west qlso, etc. controlling all articulations, and sound changes without the need to make very complex configurations that also you need to buy.
There's a steady stream of questions in the support forum proving that 128 channels are not enough. We're provided with a sound set including a range of articulations, but not with sufficient channels to USE them in a large score.
