Add Mute Button preference. On/Off vs On/Half/Off

In the mixer, I can see the value of a three position mute button for some folks. But personally, I find it cumbersome, Anyone else? I would love to disable it. How about a preference setting to allow just normal on/off?

OR a shortcut could be useful, like CTRL + CLICK, that skips the half setting.

Define Groups in the Mixer

As I understand it at the moment the groupings in the mixer are somehow decided automatically by Sibelius. When opening a file created in a previous version of Sibelius I often find many instruments no longer attached to a group. The only way I have found to solve this is to laboriously create new instrument staves, copy the old part to it and then delete the original. It would be handy to define ones own grouping. ...more »

Bugs

Allow for user-defined groups in mixer/stop randomizing it.

If you have a large score in S7.5 (30 or more), I have found that some instruments get grouped together in the mixer. They sometimes aren't even related, for example my Piccolo track is linked to my Snare (b) track. When making MP3s, it makes for a challenge to get the correct level. There should be a feature to allow for groupings defined by the user and not randomly added by Sibelius with no editing capabilities.

Stereo Pan Malfunction

I use the Pan feature in the Mixer to create 100% stereo separation between staves. This is done to create tracks for choral singers to learn with. Vocal lines are represented with instruments - usually, woodwinds and brass. I find that, occasionally, when I export the file to wav, a single note on one staff, set to pan=100% right, leaks over to another staff, set to pan=100% left. This isn't a reverb problem - I ...more »

Return playback sound choice to mixer

In older versions of Sib it was possible to easily reassign playback sounds for each stave from the Mixer. Each stave/channel revealed the instrument assigned to it and allowed that to be changed. This has disappeared in the more recent versions. As an arranger, I miss having the ability to easily reassign different sounds without having to add a new stave to the score, copy the notes into it, audition the results, ...more »

Master Fader missing in Mixer

IF (a) In Audio Engine Options, "Release device when Sibelius 7.x is in the background" is checked; AND IF (b) Sibelius is in the background (does not have focus) at the moment when the score file is opened THEN the Master Fader will not appear in the Mixer, and cannot be made to appear by clicking the "Show/hide master volume" button. For instance, if one opens a score file by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer, ...more »

Remap Pitches

It would be great to be able to remap pitches arbitrarily, both on a staff basis and on a note-by-note basis. Basically, Sibelius could let you inspect a note and change its sounding pitch to something else entirely, and it should also be possible to write a plug-in that will change the pitch programmatically. The use case would be for retuning notes beyond the limit of the MIDI pitch bend, and it should be an easy ...more »

Features

custom mute-groups in the mixer

It might be very helpful to be able to create mute-groups in the mixer. A few predefined and some programmable could be clever like

visible only (when focus on staves is used)

family (only brass, ww or strings)

custom 1 to 9 (mute the channels you don't need and click onto a button in a mute-group field while pressing ctrl to save this mute-setting. A simple click would recall the mute-group)
