Sibelius + DAW (epic libraries and sound engineering) = BLISS In short, Sibelius procreates with Logic and has a baby. When will our Messiah be born? I will pay through the nose on the day. Goodbye Sibelius, my longtime love, hopefully not for too long. Reluctantly and heartbrokenly trying to figure out Logic's notation nightmare😩 Yeah, I tried Re-Wire. Need it to go the OTHer way. Yeah, I paid $1,100 for 11 EWQL ...more »
Tempo primo used to work correctly in v7.5. However, it seems to be broken in 2018.1
I recently completed a piece in 3 movements. The final movement has an intro followed by a cadenza and then a section marked Tempo primo. This should start at the same tempo as the movement's intro, but it just seems to choose some random value. The movements are properly marked by Section End markers.
A suggestion for improving playback navigation. If you are working on a section of music and hit the spacebar Sibelius relocates to the beginning of the piece. Yes you can select the section and hit P but sometimes you forget to select something, hit the spacebar and now you've been relocated. It would be nice to have some kind of Start marker that could be moved about so that hitting the space bar starts from that ...more »
Right now (V8.6.1) the playback dictionary only allows Sound ID changes. That's fine for people who are using Sibelius Sounds or have spent the hours and hours to create custom sound id's (if even possible). However, most sample libraries rely on program changes, CC messages and/or keyswitches. Please add those three options to the articulations tab in the playback dictionary. Please!! The staff text tab already ...more »
In addition to adjusting durations of legato patches, also include notation start times relative to the notated time as a lot of sample libraries are based on starting the following note slightly AHEAD of the beat so that the slur/slide happens first and then the note lands on the notated pitch on the beat. By only adjusting the duration, notes sound like they are a little late and playback sounds off. Also have the ...more »
This hasn't been updated since version 6 and the palette still has 5 empty slots. Can we please get bends, shakes, jazz turns, etc.?
This has to be the easiest thing to do in terms of code. Basically the Sound Editor doesn't give an option if the keyswitch should happen after the note is produced or if it should hold on to the keyswitch as the note plays. I have countless libraries that use this method for articulation releases e.g. falls, doits, scoops, etc. Samplemodelling for example, most keyswitches are meant to be applied AFTER the normal note ...more »
Automation Control would be a revolutionary and long needed update for Sibelius. When using any VST such as East West (in cooperation with SSP) dynamics only update volume change per note and not consistently unless you use the dynamic velocity controller, which is highly ineffective and outdated. If you were to implement a way to draw the dynamics instead adding thousands of MIDI volume marks, Sibelius would have the ...more »
Designating playback devices for particular sounds is great and all, but how about specifying a default device for undesignated sounds? Or perhaps designating a group of similar devices, or treating a multi-port device as one - I use a Yamaha MU2000 which uses 4 MIDI ports for 64 channels.
Perhaps this problem has been reported before. I'm using Sibelius 7.5. When repeated notes follow a fermata, the second note in the series isn't sounded during playback and export. (Sometimes it sounds, but the volume is practically inaudible.) I tried to get around it by putting the repeated note on an ossia staff, but then I got unpredictable errors in the sound library. The only workaround that reliably helped ...more »
Sibelius used to play back dynamics of individual voices in a single staff based on dynamics specified with that same voice number. This no longer works, it chooses the same volume for all voices on a staff.
This is really important in many places, including multiple instruments on the same staff, but also to bring out melody in piano lines, etc.
In a string part after the indication tremolo, nat does not return the playback to a non tremolo sound. nat. with a full stop (period) does as does the full word naturale. pizz, con sord and senza sord all work without a full stop and so although strictly speaking nat is wrong (being an abbreviation it should have a full stop) it is inconsistent with how other markings work. I found this while using an old file created ...more »
