Distribute staves evenly

I frequently have to make changes to the default spacing between staves - either in a full score or in parts. Often, though, I will want to ensure that this manual spacing is consistent between multiple staves. It would be great if it were possible to select a group of staves, hit "Distribute Staves Evenly" and have the spacing average out between them.

Improving cross-staff glissando capability

I would simply like to draw the cross staff glissando arrow and have the gliss go across staff as shown but also be played. Sibelius can not play this but plays only half of the chord. This is essential for Harp. Here is the score as it looks and you will hear the harp at .33 seconds in Glissando, but its written incorrectly here and I have to figure a work around.

Bottom staff margin formula madness

The first attachment (illustrated) shows the bottom margins of a default newly-created score, with the bottom staff justified against the bottom of the page. One might imagine that the 25mm shown is simply the sum of "Bottom page margin" and "Bottom staff margin" as defined in "Document Setup". But no. In fact, in Document Setup, "Bottom page margin" = 12.7mm, and "Bottom staff margin" = 12.7mm, so the sum should be ...more »

Give more staff editing options to include cutaway score

I read the article on the unofficial Sibelius blog about creating cutaway scores, and I must say that I am intrigued by this modern scoring format. Unfortunately, it is entirely too much work to accomplish when it would be possible to include a simple feature to completely hide a selected measure from view. Such a feature would give much more creative control over modern notation techniques, which is important to promote ...more »

Cross staff notes fail to return to parent staff in multistave

For grandstaff works requiring extra staves including those with ossia passages the CTRL+SHIFT+UP/DOWN command does not work properly. If the notes have been placed on a stave below the parent staff using this command does not return them to the parent staff but sends them instead to the top staff in the part. If that's an ossia staff or an additional higher keyboard staff, that's where the music goes to. It skips ...more »

Optimize spacing bug

Sometimes, a combination of system text and magnetic layout can cause the "optimize staff spacing" function to create large gaps in grand staves. Whilst this seems like an unlikely combination of events (and there is a workaround by switching off magnetic layout on the system text) it does happen often enough to be annoying and consistently enough to be considered a bug.

Independent chords and chords in parts

When extracting parts, in order to have the chords displayed in every part, I have to put chords in an invisible staff and define again all parts so that they include that staff. I would like this to be more intuitive, like making chords an special staff that might be present in every part (or may not)

Linked Staves (or Staves with a particular function)

As a professional staff arranger for a premiere music organization, it becomes to difficult to manage the balance between publisher quality music and a chart that is revision-friendly. In order for me to stem away from separate score/part files for appearance demands, I often combine instrument staves for the score to free up real estate and hide the individual instrument parts to "Parts only." This allows me to designate ...more »

Arpeggio lines on grand staff chords should play back correctly

At present, if a chord is spread across both staves of a grand staff, one can attach (using keypad 5) an arpeggio line either to the treble staff chord, or to the bass staff chord. The arpeggio line can be lengthened to spread across both staves, so that it looks correct visually. But, on playback, only the notes on the staff to which the arpeggio lines was attached will arpeggiate: the notes on the other staff will ...more »
