I would like to be able to quickly mute a selection. I realize you could go into inspector and unselect 1st time playback but its a bit cumbersome and also then there is no visual indication that the section has been muted. So perhaps something like: select a few bars, hit the mute notes button or Ctrl-M, and then the music turns grey (or hidden) and the notes do not playback. Hitting the button again unmutes the ...more »
Please bring back the old Part window. Having everything in different places slows me down so much! So, what I used to do is have the part window open. I could see what part I was on, what part was next, in a lovely vertical list. All the icons below was everything I needed. I can edit easily what staves are in each part, I know what part is next, it only opens one part at a time (I hate the tabs thing in the new Sibelius, ...more »
I will admit that I am lousy at following a metronome. I also like to improvise and would love to turn improvisations into usable scores, even if just for my own reference. So here's my simple method (simple for the user, not necessarily simple to implement): Use flexi-time to record the notes, as usual, but then provide a way to manually mark the beats. In one possible implementation, there would a special "correction" ...more »
Hello, I'm a blind musician. When I'm doing a project producing braille music from Sibelius exported musicxml, I discovered there are lots of things musicxml can't express. I asked Michael Good, and he said the Manuscript language is very limited. For example, the xml can't point out whether a text belongs to a staff or a system. Also, there are lots of lines and brackets in the xml, but in Sibelius, they are lots of ...more »
In Engraving Rules I'd like to see a "Gap After Clef" setting that would affect ONLY the bars with a clef when adjusting the space between a Clef and a Key Signature. Alternatively, there is already an Initial Clef Width setting in Engraving Rules that doesn't affect ONLY the bars with a clef. (See screenshot.) A seen in the screenshot, when trying to adjust the space between a Clef and KS in the top row using the ...more »
It would be great if individual symbols could be assigned keyboard shortcuts
Hello, I'm a blind composer. I'm using a Sibelius demo to try the accessibility functions. I have downloaded and installed the Visual Impaired scripts written by Bob Zawalich, and find Sibelius already very accessible. But since I write complicated music, I'd like to request the following features, and hope they can be included in future version of Sibelius. 1. I'd like to se Sibelius has a convenient selection function ...more »
In 6/8 time, if you enter two crotchets at the beginning of the bar, Sibelius should automatically combine the last two quaver rests into a crotchet rest, not leave them as two quaver rests. Except for the slowest of tempos, that bar really has a ¾ feel. I would say the same even if two crotchets are first and last in the bar.
With modern music breaking new ground in formatting and notation, users should be given the opertunity to overide all presets in the score. My idea would be, when the engraver select "Manual Overide", the score, up to that point would remain as is and allow you to select and move anything in the score without restrictions. Of course this would disable any playback and force you to save the score as "For Print or View ...more »
it'd be useful to be able to makes changes to scores WHILE playback is occurring. Even if it is only cosmetic changes like layout.
