Extended keys in Notations>Key Signatures

It frequently makes more musical sense with Bb transposing instruments to have a Gb major key sig. whilst the non-transposing score is in E major. But Sibelius won't let me have a Gb major key sig - it insists on F# major. Selecting engraving rules>Clef and Key Sigs> Respell remote keys doesn't work as both Gb and F# are equally remote with 6 sharps or flats in their key sigs. This is an Enhancement Request to be able ...more »

More pedaling features

Symbols built into Sibelius to notate half (or third, quarter or 3/4) pedaling. It would also be great if the line could match the notation, so that when the pedal is held down normally, the line displays normally, and when half pedaling is required, the line is a little higher. Also, there should be a way to edit the text before the pedal line, in order to use the sostenuto pedal, or some new pedal for a special instrument. ...more »

Dynamic Automation Control

Automation Control would be a revolutionary and long needed update for Sibelius. When using any VST such as East West (in cooperation with SSP) dynamics only update volume change per note and not consistently unless you use the dynamic velocity controller, which is highly ineffective and outdated. If you were to implement a way to draw the dynamics instead adding thousands of MIDI volume marks, Sibelius would have the ...more »

Fermata over barline

It should be possible to place a fermata over/under a barline and have it insert a gap or pause for a specified time. This can be done on notes in later versions of Sibelius, but the only way of doing it on barlines at the moment is by a huge faff inserting bars with an odd length and hidden rests which is crazy.

Previous Version Convertor

I was just wondering about the possibility of the programmers of Sibelius to use the code that exports a file to a previous version and make a little stand-alone app for those that does not have the latest version of Sibelius. Say for example I receive a Sibelius file that was created in Version 8.x, but I have Sibelius 4, then I could open the version 8 into this converter and export it to version 4. Thus far, I have ...more »

An iOS and Android app that work as keypad and shortcuts

I visualice an iPhone app that works as the keypad on Sibelius, with all the symbols. Or an iPad app, with not just the keypad, but a lot of shortcuts to work more efficiently on Sibelius.

Tuplets advanced

In a 6/8 measure I can create quadruplets to have a conflict rhythm 6 quavers against 4 quavers. That's nice. I wish to have the same function in a 5/8 measure, to achive the conflict rhythm 5 quavers against 4 quavers. Presently, if I mark all the 5 quavers and chose "quadruplet", Sib takes the first 3 quavers and creates a quadruplet, leaving the remaining 2 quavers unchanged. That's not what I wish. (Actually, that ...more »

~K for keyswitches

The Sound IDs in Sibelius allow the user to select many different instrument articulations when playing back with Vienna Symphony Library (VSL) ... but occasionally I need to temporarily select a patch (cell) with a keyswitch for which there is no corresponding Sound ID. I can do that by adding a hidden staff, but that is a hassle for large scores - it would be more convenient to simply have a command like "~K,A0" (just ...more »

Saving a device within a playback configuration as a preset

I would like to be able to save one of the devices in the playback configuration pane into the "Available Devices" pane (basically, being able to attach a name and preset to an entry in that list). The use case for this is when you need to create an orchestral template from memory-hungry components: at the moment you cannot, for example, move an instrument using a fixed sound-set from one playback configuration to another: ...more »

Display a capo on the fretboard panel

It would be helpful to have the option to show a capo on the fretboard. It would save a lot of mental arithmetic!

Real Let Vibrate Ties

Why Sibelius doesn't offer a PROPER solution for let vibrate ties that works without faking & plugins etc.?

In fact only Lilypond has nailed this problem. You can modify the shape of the l.v. ties as in regular ties and if you have chords with l.v. ties you can tweak each one of them (length, curvature etc.)
