MIXER

Hello, it would be great to have in sibelius 8.7 a mixer more easy to read, names are to small, why not adding options of size, colors, and a vertical/horizontal options to show the mixer like in the earlier version , there was more space to read instruments when the mixer was vertical instead of horizontal.

Accordion sound(s)

I brought a piece over from Finale, for Bayan (Accordion, essentially) and Orchestra. The orchestra parts were voiced just fine (flute sounds like flute, clarinet sounds .....). However, the Bayan didn't sound that well. I tried to edit the instrument sound, The closest sounds I found were various organ sounds, or melodica. The melodica sounds (probably) the closest, but has a very limited range. What does Sibelius have ...more »

Better lyric insert with tied notes

When you insert the lyrics you need to tap an extra time on Space when two notes are tied together. It should jump automatically. You never want lyrics on the second note. This happens a lot when you write syncopated music. (e.g on the words ten, no, -grees, take.

(this was fixed in Logic 10 years ago...)

It's also annoying that you lose the lyric mode when you scroll the page.

Special barlines splitting multirests.

The new behaviour in 8.7.2 has merit. But consider a section in 7/4 time, which has been 'split' with a dotted barline. The Split Bars function works well. But even if one of the non-splitting barline types is chosen, it still splits a multirest. If this can be made to work properly, perhaps Dashed should be added to the list of non-splitting special barlines. Or new types could be added - splitting-dashed and non-splitting-dashed. ...more »

Plugin format .aax

Hi. I'd love to suggest Sibelius also accepts plugins with the plugin format *aax. The sad story behind this is that Gibson has killed off Cakewalk, the product will neither be sold nor developped anymore. (Please see http://www.cakewalk.com/Gibson-Announcement.) As a user of Sibelius (8.7.2) it was a small step for me to replaye my #1 DAW Cakewalk Sonar by ProTools (12.8.2), but alas, ProTools takes only plugins with ...more »

More Customizable Manuscripts

I have a part time job now creating content for a music education app. A lot of that work is writing different riffs that can be substituted in the app. One measure long. You can see where I'm going. I'd really like to be able to create a one measure long manuscript. It would save me a lot of time on my work. I think other people that come up with riffs they like to save might use it. I wish the manuscripts were ...more »

Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks in Sibelius were high on Daniel's list of improvements shortly before the shutters came down on The Old Toy Factory. Michael Ost likened it to HTML, and in a way, it is. For writers of analyses, methods and histories, it would enable authors to write completely within Sibelius, thus obviating a trip to any 3rd party software. So how could it work? Put the text and graphics on a blank page. At the end paragraph ...more »

Quantization

It's great that quantization is available during flexi-time input, but more often I need it after the fact. I've recorded some notes that I thought I was playing evenly, but after listening to it, it has some uneven parts. I want to select a few bars and say "quantize this" to fix the unevenness. Finale has this feature. Every sequencer does. Sibelius should. If you Google this, there is screaming by the Sibelius community ...more »
