If you input a note and tie as in Ex1 and then select the note and press R for repeat you get Ex2. If you select both notes in Ex3 and press R you get Ex3 you get Ex4. Clearly this is inconsistent and therefore one of these is a bug. These situations should not be confused with when the whole bar is selected when both situations result in the tie being copied. This is then consistent and I think correct (the tie is part ...more »
Currently, jump to and marker text does not respond to changes in play on pass settings. It can be very useful to set these texts to only take effect on the 2nd/3rd/4th etc time.
For folk music with 8 or 16 bar phrases, of which the first, say, 2 measures repeat twice, informal notation often permits two choices to avoid unnecessary duplication. Played structure: A1 A2 A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6. Notated structure: [A1 A2] A3 A4 A5 A6 Informal notations: A) A repeat line over the two measure that only operates locally and always plays back in full. The Swedes call this "bis" ("twice"). -- or -- B) ...more »
It should be possible to put % repeat-bar signs in the parts while keeping the original notes in the score. Finale does this and it works well. This is particularly useful when trying to fit a lot of repetitive music in parts, i.e. can save a lot of page turns.
A DS will not function at all if placed on a bar with a disabled end-repeat. Even though I have it set to play repeats after DS's: - Repeats after the DS are missing one pass; - When my "To Coda" happens on an end-repeat, the repeat doesn't play at all. Example: In the attached score, the end-repeat in bar 4 is set for 2 passes (play 3 times). It plays 3 times before the DS and only 2 after. If I set it to 4 times, ...more »
I do a lot of engraving for theory papers/books, and need a "gap before bar" most of the time. I've tried to export a desired manuscript paper which I created (with gaps) but the manuscript doesn't keep this format. So I have to select a bar, go to Inspector, and create the gap. It would be very useful if one could repeat this action without having to click in the bar to select, then click to change the size of the gap ...more »
When you select a note and push the 'r' key, that note is repeated, or if you select a group of notes and push 'r' they are all repeated. However, it would be only logical (and nice) for rests to work the same way. Currently if you select any type of rest and push 'r', nothing happens.
If the final note before a repeat ending has a tie or slur leading into the end-repeat bars, then only the first repeat bar sequence engraves or plays back the tie/slur correctly. The 2nd (and higher) repeat bar sequences do not display an inward tie/slur finishing in them, nor does the tie/slur play back correctly.
