Although trills are adjustable via the inspector, it would be great to have a variety of trill lines (sharp, flat, natural, 1/2, etc.) that play back appropriately. It would also be great if pieces without key signature ("atonal") would default to semitone trills, rather than diatonic ones.
I've never understood why we are able to manipulate system text styles into appearing at very specific system object positions, but we can't do the same for system lines. There should be a way to edit a system line's vertical position, so that we can tell Sibelius to automatically put a system line at very specific system object positions (or not), just like we can do in Edit > Text Styles for System Text.
When adding system lines in performers scores (i.e. above a reduced staff size violin part atop a full size piano accompaniment) the system line is reduced also. The system line is set using a relative size basis taking the top staff in a score as its cue. Allow system lines to be resized absolutely so that things like first and second time endings do not appear too small.
Sometimes, a combination of system text and magnetic layout can cause the "optimize staff spacing" function to create large gaps in grand staves. Whilst this seems like an unlikely combination of events (and there is a workaround by switching off magnetic layout on the system text) it does happen often enough to be annoying and consistently enough to be considered a bug.
Please may we have full control over which staves to select in System Object Positions. Let us choose every stave if we wish. I'm amazed to discover this doesn't seem to have been requested already!
Certain markings such as Accel., rit., ral. and so on need to be able to appear in multiple parts of the score system similar to system object text like Allegro, etc. Currently, because these other markings contain variable line extensions, they appear in the Line menu. Unfortunately, when placed in the score they do not properly repeat on parts below the top line. There is a need to add an option (in the Inspector would ...more »
Sibelius used to allow separate manipulation of the position of each section of 8ve and other lines when they cross systems. At the moment, only the final section is independently adjustable.
System Line Objects, of any sort, do not move vertically in response to an "Align in a Row" command, regardless of what other objects are selected for the Align. As a result, for instance, it is not possible to align System Lines such as "rall..." with System Text Objects such as Tempo text. System Lines are also odd in that (a) they do not display attachment lines, and (b) they do not display Object Rulers when Object ...more »
Repro: 1. Create a new Sibelius score with default settings and at least one staff; 2. Enter some notes on a bar other then the first, on the top staff; 3. Attach some System Text (e.g. Tempo) to any note in that bar other than the first; 4. Select the System Text Object, and do "Reset Position"; 5. While the System Text Object is still selected, press up-arrow or down-arrow, with the intention of adjusting the text's ...more »
Note-attached System Text Objects (such as Tempo text) respond to "Align in a Row" by moving to a position 5 spaces higher than they should be for horizontal alignment with their other partners in the Align command. This has been tested with the other partner in the Align command being: Staff Text, System Symbols, Staff Symbols, and Staff Lines, all with consistent results: Note-attached System Text Objects are the odd ...more »
When creating a new score, you get the opportunity to specify backstage info like title, composer, etc. But then the score that is created has these values hard-coded into the text in the score. It should instead be using the standard macros like \$title\ and \$composer\. I end up having to replace these with every score, which doesn't make any sense.
Like most people the music I create uses repeat endings. Many times I need custom endings such as 1.-3. or 4., which don't seem to exist in the default list of system lines. I can create them in a session and use them but the next time I launch Sibelius (7.5) they are gone. How do I save custom endings that I create across sessions?
