Erase background obscuring text when printing

When text crosses a barline, it is useful to make ["erase"] a space in the barline for the text to cross. Up to Sib 7 I used whitespace tif's for this but with Sib 7 I changed my method to using the typgraphic controls in the inspector. I now select the text / select Text Frame from the Inspector, give the frame a little extra height and select the [vertical] alignment. Then I select erase background. This all ...more »

sfz not defined in Playback Dictionary

The staff text "sfz" is not defined in the Playback Dictionary, and so has no effect on playback.

The Playback Dictionary defines "sf" and "fz" but not "sfz". "sf" is defined as a whole-word match, and so does not cover "sfz".

"sfz" is sufficiently conventional notation that it should have a playback definition.

Also, Sibelius First users cannot edit their Playback Dictionary.

When will you fix the issues with multirests?

Hi there. I have been a Sibelius user for approximately ten years. Recently purchased Sibelius 7.5 and was extremely dismayed to find that you haven't yet addressed the issue whereby inserting symbols or text (of any kind) to the beginning or end of a multirest will break it into one full bar followed by a multirest. There are countless complaints about this on every related forum and I've yet to find a thread where you ...more »

tied notes don't move with original note

When two or more notes are tied together, alterations made to the first note in the series are not carried through to the rest of the notes in the series. Therefore, extra effort must be made to change all notes individually or to select all the notes as a group before making the alteration. By definition, with notes that are tied together, what happens to the first note should apply to the others. This is currently not ...more »

about copying notes with slurs

I encountered a strange behaviour when copying an bar-segment with notes and slurs. Quite often in a score with various instruments it comes to a chord on the first note of a bar but continuous unisono. When changing this unisono I usually copy this segment and paste it into the other instruments by selecting the first unisono-note and the command [ctrl] + [v]. It always happens that slurs are doubled or previously ...more »

Incorrect playback of octave lines

I write classical piano music and often have many pages within the same 8va octave lines. Unfortunately, Sibelius only plays back the correct higher octave if the playback is begun from the 1st bar of the 8va. Starting from any subsequent bar under the 8va line, the notes are played incorrectly, an octve too low, i.e. they sound as if there were *no* 8va lines

Playback: Fermata bug

During playback a bug can occur under the following circumstances: 1 -- A fermata is used, and the length and/or delay properties are set. 2 -- Two or more notes in the same voice, immediately following the fermata, have the same pitch. 3 -- Some combination of the fermata length, delay, and the current tempo will cause the second note (in the voice[s] with two notes on the same pitch) to either not play at all, or ...more »

Tuplet malpositioned over single note

If a tuplet digit (with or without brackets) is placed over a single note, then it (and its brackets) are badly positioned, and the tuplet digit might even be upside-down. It can be corrected by manual adjustment, but reverts to its bad state if "Reset Position" is used. To reproduce: - enter a quarter note; - select it and type Ctrl-3 to produce tuplet of three quarters in the time of two; - select the first note of ...more »

Change text size not working properly

When you select text and go to:

Text tab>Size (up/down arrows),

and change the size, it should change as you click on the arrows so you can view the change you are making.

Instead, you have to click on your score it see the change, and it is almost never what I intended on first try.

This has been broken in an update . . . please fix!
