Sibelius attaches breath marks to the note head, which should be positioned between the notes. I would like a way to change their default position so I don't have to move every single breath mark over...and often up.
The new operable breath marks (commas) and caesuras in Sibelius 7.5.1 are a real blessing. But I have encountered one problem. Breath marks don't operate if the preceding note is tied. Can this problem be corrected? Also, it would be better if the commas appeared between the notes where the breath mark occurs. It takes time to manually nudge them all leftward, and sometimes they dislodge from the note where they ...more »
In my company ( http://newzik.com ) we're hardly working on nicely displaying MusicXML files. And we like using Sibelius in our musician life. But it seems that Sibelius MusicXML compliance is quiet limited/bugged, and as MusicXML support grows for mobile apps, it may be good for Sibelius to improve its compliance. We would ever be ready to send you many technical bug reports with .sib and .xml files if we knew you ...more »
When I place a crescendo (hairpin) over a note containing a tie across two measures, the sound volume abruptly drops when playback reaches the second measure. This problem has existed at least since Sibelius 7.0 and continues in Sibelius 7.5. I have encountered it with the flute instrument sample, but not with all instruments.
A added some text that crossed a barline in the score. I set erase background true in the Inspector. I then set the item to show in parts only. The background is still visible in the score and should not be, on screen and when printing.
Having magnetic layout apply to staves so that very high or low notes from other staves don't collide.
Please see for reference score my entry at http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?com=thread&start=667526&groupid=3& For certain instruments, when using quartertones, accents cause wrong pitches. Especially oboes, with accent >. Then I found that sometimes using legato slurs, or even the technical expression "legato" itself, caused the violins either to transpose a bit, or grace notes are added. !!! ...more »
Hi everybody, I have the following problem I've never had before in Sibelius: the technique text size changes when I move it on the chart sheet. This size change is not reflected in the text window, meaning, when I hightlight the text when it's normal size, it shows size 13. I move it abovw the staff, it becomes significantly smaller, and when I highlight it, it still shows 13. I wonder if anybody has had this problem, ...more »
Steps: 1. Open Sibelius with a valid MusicXML file, e.g. "test.xml". 2. Sibelius will handle this fine and display the score. 3. Make a small change, e.g. add or delete a note. 4. Save the file. Result: Sibelius will save the file as a SIB file but overwrite the original XML file and leave the original name. In other words, "test.xml" will now be a Sibelius binary file. Note: The Avid support person thinks that this ...more »
I use the Pan feature in the Mixer to create 100% stereo separation between staves. This is done to create tracks for choral singers to learn with. Vocal lines are represented with instruments - usually, woodwinds and brass. I find that, occasionally, when I export the file to wav, a single note on one staff, set to pan=100% right, leaks over to another staff, set to pan=100% left. This isn't a reverb problem - I ...more »
When playing back, the Playback Line (green moving line) stays visible by advancing pages as needed. When you hit stop (space bar or escape), the music stops but the page that has the green playback line moves off-screen in many cases. This leads to a hunt for the actual stopping point (is it one page ahead? one page back?) This even happens in panorama view. Very frustrating when trying to trouble shoot an odd sound. ...more »
Editing instrumental scores from an orchestra score (problem with the "composer" text and "title" text): The text size from the conductor's score does not remain the same when editing the individual instruments and the title text does not remain on top as in the conductor's score. Both bugs have to be corrected manually on every instrumental score. Only for patient people. Please correct this bug!
