Scorch cannot save scores in IE Protected Mode

If the Scorch plug-in is used in Internet Explorer with Protected Mode enabled (the default on Windows Vista and higher), then any attempt to save the score to hard disk (using the Save button) will fail. This is because Internet Explorer in Protected Mode runs plug-ins at Low Integrity, for safety and security reasons. Low Integrity plug-ins are not permitted to write to disk areas labelled Medium Integrity or higher, ...more »

Problem with manuscript language on cross-staff notes

Hello, I'm testing and comparing musicxml files exported from Sibelius itself and Dolet plugin. I'd prefer to use Dolet's export, because there are things like some texts and even fingerings not exported from Sib itself, and Dolet can handle most of the things correctly. But there's a problem with cross-staff notes, which Michael Good says it impossible to solve. The piano score with cross-staff notes can correctly ...more »

When playback is stopped, Playback Line needs to stay visible

When playing back, the Playback Line (green moving line) stays visible by advancing pages as needed. When you hit stop (space bar or escape), the music stops but the page that has the green playback line moves off-screen in many cases. This leads to a hunt for the actual stopping point (is it one page ahead? one page back?) This even happens in panorama view. Very frustrating when trying to trouble shoot an odd sound. ...more »

Text style bugs in edited instrumental scores

Editing instrumental scores from an orchestra score (problem with the "composer" text and "title" text): The text size from the conductor's score does not remain the same when editing the individual instruments and the title text does not remain on top as in the conductor's score. Both bugs have to be corrected manually on every instrumental score. Only for patient people. Please correct this bug!

Scorch slow to load Sib htm files

I was experimenting with the new Scorch on an Intel Mac using various browsers and was surprised to find that it was taking 30 seconds plus to load a simple, one-line part of eight bars, irrespective of the browser. I think that this is a bug as the previous version in its prime was much quicker.

Stereo Pan Malfunction

I use the Pan feature in the Mixer to create 100% stereo separation between staves. This is done to create tracks for choral singers to learn with. Vocal lines are represented with instruments - usually, woodwinds and brass. I find that, occasionally, when I export the file to wav, a single note on one staff, set to pan=100% right, leaks over to another staff, set to pan=100% left. This isn't a reverb problem - I ...more »

Quartertone bugs

Please see for reference score my entry at http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?com=thread&start=667526&groupid=3& For certain instruments, when using quartertones, accents cause wrong pitches. Especially oboes, with accent >. Then I found that sometimes using legato slurs, or even the technical expression "legato" itself, caused the violins either to transpose a bit, or grace notes are added. !!! ...more »

Text size changes according to position

Hi everybody, I have the following problem I've never had before in Sibelius: the technique text size changes when I move it on the chart sheet. This size change is not reflected in the text window, meaning, when I hightlight the text when it's normal size, it shows size 13. I move it abovw the staff, it becomes significantly smaller, and when I highlight it, it still shows 13. I wonder if anybody has had this problem, ...more »

Easy to reproduce bug when saving an imported XML file

Steps: 1. Open Sibelius with a valid MusicXML file, e.g. "test.xml". 2. Sibelius will handle this fine and display the score. 3. Make a small change, e.g. add or delete a note. 4. Save the file. Result: Sibelius will save the file as a SIB file but overwrite the original XML file and leave the original name. In other words, "test.xml" will now be a Sibelius binary file. Note: The Avid support person thinks that this ...more »
