Angled Slash Chords

Chords symbols with an alternate bass note should be at an angle, NOT right next to each other (i.e. C/B). Sibelius only allows C/B, but if you want it how it is supposed to look, it has to be done manually and is a big pain.

There is a plug-in to make them vertical, but that means a polychord, NOT a chord with an alternate bass note.

Create alternate chord progressions above main chord symbols

Most modern fake books such as The New Real Book have alternate chord progressions above the primary or original chords. In various cases these may indicate chords to be played on the second time through; hipper/jazzier chords that deviate from the composer's original conception; or notable reharmonizations employed by other artists. An easy way to display two (or more) concurrent chord progressions, stacked vertically, ...more »

Ties for arpeggiated chords

Currently, Sibelius does not allow you to create ties between notes in an arpeggiated chord to the full blocked chord, as shown to the left. The Sibelius Reference Guide (excerpt in 2nd attachment) admits this can only be done by manually by resizing the ties. However, when the score is changed, Sibelius does not automatically resize or move the ties magnetically with the score. Arpeggiated chords are used extensively ...more »

Global Harmony Track

I'd like to have a separate track that contained just the harmony (chord symbols) of the piece overall - it could be input or generated automatically by Sibelius. Then you could choose in which parts (and where on them) to show/hide the chord symbols. This way, if I change harmony later, all parts would update automatically. And I could show the harmony over, say, the piano part in the full score but only over the vocal ...more »

Bugs

Improving cross-staff glissando capability

I would simply like to draw the cross staff glissando arrow and have the gliss go across staff as shown but also be played. Sibelius can not play this but plays only half of the chord. This is essential for Harp. Here is the score as it looks and you will hear the harp at .33 seconds in Glissando, but its written incorrectly here and I have to figure a work around.

Chord Symbols Designer

Sibelius should have an option in which we could create our own Chord Symbols. The brazilian chord symbol patterns, for example, are way too different from the ones offered by the Program. In the Edit Chord Symbols you could have an option that enables us to write the Chord and design it the way we like better. For example: when the 9 comes over the 7, or the C7M instead of Cmaj7 (because of the brazilian notation patterns). ...more »

Note cluster chord

It would be nice when there was a way to notate expanded cluster-notes correctly instead of messing them up. The official notation is a tree-like note with one top-stem, branching out in several stems with noteheads next to each other underneath.

Add 7b10 chords

The American way of notating these chords is 7#9, but here in Holland we normally use the b10 notation, based on the idea that there is only one 9th in a chord (because if using two different versions of one note in chord would mean that you could write 7b3 or m7b11 or something for this chord), in which case 7b9#9-chords wouldn't exist...

Build Chord Chart "Part" from a score

Add an option to the list of parts that can be extracted from a score to include the chords in the score. Extract those chords into a simple chord chart, with chords written over a simple single line staff. This could be printed out for players who don't need notes to play along with a score, just the chords.

Bugs

Engraving buggy for stem-down chords with seconds

If a chord is both (a) stem-down, and (b) contains intervals of seconds, then either (1) the stem position is incorrect horizontally, or (2) the lengths of ties to and from each side of the chord is mis-computed. See attached graphic for an example.

Bugs

Alt + Arrow Only Selects Chord Note from Same Voice in Inst.

Use Alt + arrow to jump to note in chord even if not in same instrument voice.

Often need to quickly move to other voices in chord, even if not in same voice, i.e Split Voice. Alt+ arrow does not allow jump to voice other than the one selected.

"Realize Chord Symbol" plug-in: option to reuse generated staff

Here's a suggestion for REALIZE CHORD SYMBOLS: Add an option to "RE-USE GENERATED STAFF". With this option, the plug-in would need to give the generated staff (or staves) distinct names, such as "Gen. Piano Staff" and "Gen. Guitar TAB Staff". Then, if the "RE-USE" option is selected: *) If there is not already a "Gen. XXX Staff", then add one and proceed as currently. *) If there is already a "Gen. XXX Staff", ...more »
