Formerly placed with the title 'Improve notation features (2)' part of an earlier thread suggesting systemic changes. There should be a way to export system settings. Local (document) settings can be preserved in a house style but this does not include things like modifications to fonts made at the system level in music fonts. Edits made to music fonts - for example slightly larger copies of existing fonts - don't ...more »
Unfortunately, it seems to be impossible in Sibelius 7.5.1 to turn off anti-aliasing for note lines or stems when exporting video. This makes videos look blurry and low quality, even when the highest quality settings are used. Please incorporate video export without anti-aliasing, so lines and stems remain clear!
It would be helpful to include an export option for ABC (a notation used especially for folk music). Currently the only path is to export to XML and then find an XML-to-ABC converter.
The reverse direction is less necessary.
I have been trying different ways to create a songbook with MS Publisher and adding Sibelius notations to it. - One way was creating PDFs in both and merge them with pdfsam. It's a bit fussily on a 200p document, works only with full pages, but finally I got a high quality PDF document - Another way was to create 600dpi TIFFs or PNGs and import them into MS Publisher. The 1200dpi was too much for the Publisher :-( The ...more »
MP3 is not friendly regarding multilingual ID3 data. An MP3 file may display ID3 correctly on a machine but incorrectly on another machine in different languages. MP3 is also a fatter format comparing to AAC (iTunes Plus) and it has potential data loss on audible frequencies. Thus, please support iTunes Plus export with loudness normalization and multi-band compression. Also, it will be useful to auto-trim the long silence ...more »
Perhaps this problem has been reported before. I'm using Sibelius 7.5. When repeated notes follow a fermata, the second note in the series isn't sounded during playback and export. (Sometimes it sounds, but the volume is practically inaudible.) I tried to get around it by putting the repeated note on an ossia staff, but then I got unpredictable errors in the sound library. The only workaround that reliably helped ...more »
This is either a request for help or a request for an upgraded feature, depending on whether I've just missed something. WHEN EXPORTING TO VIDEO with a playback line, I'd like the line to smoothly track the music, as it does during playback in Sibelius. Or, at least, to have a setting where the user can specify the resolution of its movement (eg, every quarter note, every 8th note, etc.) I'm using Sibelius 7.5.1. ...more »
Exporting MusicXML for use in other programs using Sibelius' export function introduces some weird and apparently random alterations in note positions. Despite my best efforts to ensure that all live start positions etc are eliminated, Sibelius seems to incorrectly adjust the positions of some notes. This results in errors when the exported file is imported into other programs, such a LilyPond.
I've found a very annoying issue with Both Sibelius 7.x and Sibelius 8.1 on El Capitan: Sometimes, for some certain project file, while I was trying to export them to audio files, Sibelius play the music as the output progress bar increases and finally exported nothing onto my hard disk.
P.S. This bug exists for really long time and some other users encountered this bug with Sibelius 6.
MusicXML supports giving accurate layout information, specifically the default-x attribute of the < note > elements, like < note default-x="141" > . Sibelius already knows where notes are; please include this attribute in the MusicXML export.
When exporting audio or video files, the relevant information in the Sib file (composer, copyright, etc.) should be entered into the same fields as the media file.
It's rather a PITB to have to seek out a tool with which to edit these fields afterwards.
Most of us have different folders for every piece of music. Once saved Sibelius remembers this folder when reopened. So far so good. I would like to have the capability to assign sub-folders to which the export-files will be saved like audio, graphics, PDF etc. When exporting ie. audio Sibelius exports the file directly into the audio-folder. If it doesn't exist it will create one. The subfolders should be chosen ...more »
