Improvement of Glissando

Glissando needs an improvement. When one adds a glissando to a note w/o a goal-note playback wont play the glissando. So a fall or gliss-down wont work.

It also would be great to set the startpoint and duration of a glissando.

Example:

When a glissando is added to a whole-note the duration of the glissando covers the complete note-duration, even when the gliss should be played at the very end of a note.

Improving cross-staff glissando capability

I would simply like to draw the cross staff glissando arrow and have the gliss go across staff as shown but also be played. Sibelius can not play this but plays only half of the chord. This is essential for Harp. Here is the score as it looks and you will hear the harp at .33 seconds in Glissando, but its written incorrectly here and I have to figure a work around.

Guitar Bend should not re-strike the note it's bending to.

Playback of guitar bends is incorrect. It bends up smoothly, then executes another note-on for the note it's bending to. Guitarists do not read and play them like this by default. It should be a smooth bend and sustain like a continuous glissando. If it's ever intended that the raised note be struck again, this can easily be notated as such where necessary.

Bugs

Gliss playback wrecks subsequent pitch bends

Sibelius apparently not only uses MIDI Pitch Bends to play back a continuous glissando, but also adjusts MIDI "Pitch Bend Sensitivity". MIDI "Pitch Bend Sensitivity" alters the affect that any subsequent MIDI Pitch Bend has, by applying a scaling factor. Sibelius fails to reset MIDI "Pitch Bend Sensitivity" to its default value: 1. before starting score playback; 2. after the completion of gliss playback; 3. after "All ...more »

Glissando beyond the beat, barline, and measure

Sibelius binds the value of a glissando to the starting note value - which is great when you want divisions that work in the basic mathematics of it's structures. In US parlance - a half note, or a doted half note glissando to another note is easy. But what if you want a glissando the length of a half note tied to a 16th note going to the remain dotted 8th note? Irregular values for glissandi are a chore or worse impossible. ...more »

Bugs

Glissando seamless playback

When I want a slow measured glissando I often write one as in Ex 1. This allows me to specify where the gliss. has reached part way and depending on the intervals can regulate different speeds within the gliss. The problem is that playback does not play this back as a continuous glissando. There is a "hiccup" at the middle note. This can be softened a little by a slur (which can be hidden) or by adding legato in the ...more »
