Please lose Java dependency

While I recognize the value of having a common API for the Avid license manager across Windows and Mac, there are multiple problems with how Avid chooses to use Java: 1. the package is installed without the user's express knowledge separate from any preexisting Java package. 7.5 updater creates bad shortcuts

The installer for the Sibelius 7.5 updater creates Windows Explorer shortcuts that are malformed and inoperable. The bad shortcuts reference an application "C:\Windows\system32\explorer.exe". But "explorer.exe" is in folder "C:\Windows\", not in folder "C:\Windows\system32\". So the shortcuts do not work. Two such inoperable shortcuts are: 1. Sounds installer XML ampersand bug

The Sibelius 7 Sounds installer on Mac OS writes the file-system path of the sample library installation into a file called "Sibelius 7 Sounds.xml" in folder "Libraries" at: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius Sounds/Libraries/ But if the user has chosen an installation location on a file-system volume whose name contains XML reserved characters (such as ampersand), then the sounds installer fails to encode the ...more »

PhotoScore installer fails to set up folder permissions

On Mac OS, the PhotoScore Lite (and Ultimate) installer installs a file called "libPDFNetC.dylib" to the folder: /usr/local/bin but fails to ensure that the file-system permissions on that folder (and the parent folders) allow this file to be read and executed by applications such as PhotoScore.
