Sometimes if I've been using Sibelius 7.5 for a few hours, some of the keyboard shortcuts stop working, especially ⌘+K for chord symbols. How do I fix this?
For musicians who use a MIDI keyboard for note entry, it would be a great boon to be able to work the entire note entry from that keyboard instead of using the Keypad for note durations, articulations and accidentals. I guess that it would speed up greatly note entry and reduce errors.
Garage Band for iPad has some great playable windows made big enough for multi-touch gestures like playing chords on guitar, bass and piano keyboard.
If the existing fretboard/keyboard windows in Sibelius could be enhanced to include similar functionality, that would be great!
I have a third-party Mac-compatible external keyboard, the USB 2.0 Keyboard by Matias. On Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, the keys are all mapped perfectly correctly when I use Sibelius 6 or PhotoScore. However, when I use the same keyboard with Sibelius 7, several of the hardware keys on the keypad no longer perform the assigned function. For instance, I have no way to use the keyboard to add a dot to the length of a note, ...more »
It would be great if individual symbols could be assigned keyboard shortcuts
I would like to be able to activate/deactivate the win-shortcuts when entering/editing text.
When writing sfz, rfz sfz etc. bold using the ctrl-key some shortcuts collide with the text.
This should only affect to the text-tools and user can active/deactivate it whenever they need it.
A lot of the simple keyboard shortcuts are already used so I suggest something Autohotkey user know for a long time : two or more character KS
some examples: the F key as modifier
F2+1, F2+a, etc...
the Caps key that is almost never used could be assigned also as a new modifier key
Caps+q, Caps+7, etc....
then 2 letters KS
t+n, p+d, etc....
those double KS would be off while tex entering
When you open up for example the filter list with keyboard pressing ctrl once, then H for Home and F,T for Filter, it would only be reasonable to allow the user to select a menu item by typing the first letters of its title (e.g. "cho" for Chord symbols or "rehe" for rehearsal marks). It bugs me that some of the functions in the ribbon are completely accessible without the arrow keys but all the dropdown menus lack this ...more »
The ribbon, when controlled with keyboard by pressing Ctrl, doesn't respond to keystrokes when processing the last one. I was using a MacBook2,1 that's perfectly suitable for writing scores with Sibelius 7 but I always have to slow down to use the ribbon with keyboard. It's very annoying since it distracts me from my fast-paced workflow. Keyboard buffer for Ribbon requested! Update: Just got a new Retina MacBook this ...more »
The accepted keyboard modifier key for introducing internationalisation features on Windows keyboard mappings is "AltGr". Internally, the AltGr modifier key is equivalent to Ctrl+Alt held down simultaneously. Microsoft advises that applications should not use the Ctrl+Alt or Ctrl+Alt+Shift modifiers for their own purposes, so that these combinations are left clear for keyboard mapping extensions using AltGr. Unfortunately, ...more »
OS X: 10.8.2
Most shortcuts like
cmd + h: hide window
cmd + w: close current window
cmd + q: quit sib
are working fine.
cmd + m to minimize the current window is somehow not recognized by Sibelius. Not sure what's going on. Was this forgotten to implement? Is it broken?
Please fix this. Thanks :)
When connected to a midi keyboard or digital piano (73-88 keys) and pedal/foot control, hold down the pedal/foot control to display note lengths/values mapped out across the keys and select what you need and then release your foot to return to note input. This could be a easy and quick way of entering notes with just your midi device and it's foot pedal.
