The filter desperately needs ties as an option. And the advanced filter needs notes with ties. One definitely should be able to edit all ties in an selected area at once. There should be a preset possibility for ties in the engraving rules which defines the height of ties. Not only the maximum height, but also a fixed height for all ties as is common with major publishers. You never see short ties which are more flat ...more »
EDITED IN: I would like to be able to use a Keyboard Shortcut to turn Magnetic Layout on/off for ML on not just Custom Symbols, but on any objects.
After creating a custom graphic and importing it into Symbols, every time I use it I must right-click to turn off ML.
There are workarounds I know (put into Ideas with ML off), but this is my Feature Request nonetheless.
To specialize the attachment of text to measures: It is common to align the first dot of a tempo text with the first dot of a time signature if present.
This would be a nice feature to have with tempo text.
Clean up the search results:
- make the searched-for item bold, NOT its path
- remove all the white space caused by one result having a description
- Make the descriptions pop up when hovered over so it's a simple, readable list.
The descriptions could probably even stay if the whitespace were eliminated and the path (in bold) and item were on a single line.
MusicXML supports giving accurate layout information, specifically the default-x attribute of the < note > elements, like < note default-x="141" > . Sibelius already knows where notes are; please include this attribute in the MusicXML export.
I find Sibelius to be the best notation software, but I feel that there is one important feature missing. For example: When I need four horn staves and want to number them, I have to write the staff names like this: Horn 1 in F Horn 2 in F Horn 3 in F Horn 4 in F This doesn't look very good, because it is very hard to read if there are lots of instruments (for example in an orchestral score). I would like to have ...more »
Noticed this in Sib 8.6 and it continues into 2018.1 Start repeat barlines collide with notes in a previous bar if they occur in the middle of a staff. It happens with beamed notes (not flagged) in durations shorter than a quaver.
Allow lines like pedal lines, octave lines, etc. to be positioned independently on each system on which they continue. Right now, that is not fully possible and results in lines that float too far away on some systems while being too close on others.
One should be able not only to force a number of bars in one page but also to define the number of staves these bars are forced in on one single page.
What about a defining list of bars per system and systems per page, not only the predefined numbers of bars per system in auto breaks?
Many, many values can changed in Sibelius. That's a very good thing, since flexibility is what all professionals need most. Yet very often it is impossible to change values in real decimal steps. Sibelius decides for you, so the first value can be 1.4, the next 1.7 and so on. Not good!!! I just wanted to change the line width first time: I only could choose 0.1 or 0.06, one being to thick, the other to thin. Where are ...more »
I read the article on the unofficial Sibelius blog about creating cutaway scores, and I must say that I am intrigued by this modern scoring format. Unfortunately, it is entirely too much work to accomplish when it would be possible to include a simple feature to completely hide a selected measure from view. Such a feature would give much more creative control over modern notation techniques, which is important to promote ...more »
System texts can be moved vertically - in both first, 2nd, and other vertical repetitions of the same text. Sometimes in modern music is necessary to move vertically the time signatures, to avoid collisions. For now it's necessary to make several steps to achieve this: hide the original time signatures, make a new text, position it, ...
All these steps can be avoided, if the texts have the function already.
