It would be great to have "edit instrument" in the mouse context-menu. It should work as the following: right-click into a staff and select "edit instrument" from the context-menu. The "edit instrument" panel of the corresponding instrument will open to make any change one likes. Especially when editing percussion maps it can be very time-consuming and annoying when one has always to go through all the steps to open ...more »
Click & drag mouse/touchpad notation: (touch and drag for windows 8 as well) Click and hold on the desired position on the stave and a horizontal pop-up list of note values appears to the right. Whilst holding the mouse button down, move the mouse pointer along the horizontal pop-up, hover mouse over the desired value such as a crotchet and let go to input that note and value. Other values such as naturals, sharps, ...more »
It's not very user-friendly to have to use the Up- and Down-Buttons in order to put a new instrument to the right place.
I really love that Sibelius put's new orchestral instruments automatically to the right place concerning the usual order of orchestral instruments. But if you don't write for orchestra you have to click on the Up- and Down-Button a thousand time!
Adding expressions (such as dynamics like pp, mf, etc) or technique text (such as divisi, con sord., etc) could be simplified by adding those two options to the contextual menu (right click/control click) and appropriate submenus to reveal their options. These are frequently used actions that require clicking on an item (notehead, etc) then typing Command-E or Command-T to get a blinking cursor. More than too often, ...more »
Sibelius has a lot of nice navigation features but is very little intuitive when using a trackpad.
For example in a mac, in many apps you can pinch to zoom, or you can select an object and change its size or rotate it, all with the trackpad multitouch gestures. I think that would be very useful in sibelius. At least the "pinch to zoom" feature I think it´s a basic.
When I use the ribbon search to find a command, the default action when pressing enter (or clicking the search result) should (optionally) be executing the command, not revealing it in the dock. Also, the reveal function should ignore mouse placement when clicking the search result opens a dropdown list where the mouse cursor is.
An option to fill notes "from left to right" (as in Finale) would be great! This is one of the things that hinders me the most in Sibelius. An option for this would be truly wonderful!
This is relevant during mouse input. Could be an option in Preferences (like Duration before Pitch).
