I am wondering if Sibelius would agree to develop features if user(s) (crowd)fund the work. There are features that really matter, but only to a narrow segment of users. One example for me is easy entering of nonstandard keys and production of parts with the option to print in the nonstandard key or print in closest major/minor with accidentals for the rest, so that the score is in the correct (nonstandard) key/mode, ...more »
Formerly placed with the title 'Improve notation features (2)' part of an earlier thread suggesting systemic changes. There should be a way to export system settings. Local (document) settings can be preserved in a house style but this does not include things like modifications to fonts made at the system level in music fonts. Edits made to music fonts - for example slightly larger copies of existing fonts - don't ...more »
When applying a tempo equation [metric modulation] between a pair of multirests the text breaks the rest so rather than having 8+8 we may end up with 7+1+8 or 8+1+7 depending on where the equation is situated. We may try to surreptitiously copy an equation from another location and paste it in the correct location but as soon as anything else is changed on the page it reverts back to the broken multirests. What is more, ...more »
Add facility to manage and print a selection of parts together in one group from a larger score in the Sibelius First version. It is vailable in the full version. It also exists in the free Musescore and Note flight.
Please bring back the old Part window. Having everything in different places slows me down so much! So, what I used to do is have the part window open. I could see what part I was on, what part was next, in a lovely vertical list. All the icons below was everything I needed. I can edit easily what staves are in each part, I know what part is next, it only opens one part at a time (I hate the tabs thing in the new Sibelius, ...more »
In [Parts - Staves in Part] you can choose which staves appear in the part. The same should be available for the Full Score. This would allow something like a piano reduction to be available as a part but not visible in the Full Score.
I would like the ability to easily make a part "act like a score". Create a part, add all the staves I want to be shown on the second score, then click some kind of "act like score" checkmark and boom! a second score that can be formatted independently of the first. There are many reason why this is handy. - I may have two scores formatted differently. Like an 11 x 17 version and a study score version. - There ...more »
I'd love to be able to set "Show bar rests" (in Engraving Rules) separately for score and parts.
One common scenario would be to hide them in the score (for a structurally cleaner look) but show them in the parts (to go that extra mile, in order to make musicians feel at home).
In Sibelius 4-6, Dynamic Parts by default were only shown one at a time. You could get windows for several Dynamic Parts simultaneously if you wanted, by using Window->New Window, which would duplicate a part window, otherwise normally you'd only have two windows open, one for Full Score, and the other for the currently-shown part. Unfortunately, in Sibelius 7+, the designers have given us the non-intuitive Parts tabs ...more »
Add an option to the list of parts that can be extracted from a score to include the chords in the score. Extract those chords into a simple chord chart, with chords written over a simple single line staff. This could be printed out for players who don't need notes to play along with a score, just the chords.
When extracting parts, in order to have the chords displayed in every part, I have to put chords in an invisible staff and define again all parts so that they include that staff. I would like this to be more intuitive, like making chords an special staff that might be present in every part (or may not)
Although I’m not convinced that anybody of the Sibelius team ever reads the ideas and bug reports I try to report one … I’d like to have alphabetical rehearsal marks without the letter “I” (A,B, … H, J, K, …) to prevent misunderstandings. I add the automatic numbered marks (containing “I”) and hide the I-mark. But in parts where the hidden mark falls into a multi rest it is ignored and the next mark, which should be ...more »
