At present, Sibelius Player assumes A=440. This proposal is twofold: (a) to allow scores to specify the intended playback tuning, and (b) to permit the tuning to be varied by the user on the Transport panel.
It would be a great time saver, if one could define default noteheads per pitch on drum staves, so i.e. all HiHat notes will automatically have crossed noteheads by default! Sure, you could use filters to do this, but it would be much easier and faster, if it's already done in background while entering notes.
Of course one should be able to customize these settings!
Create a new edit mode so that selected notes cannot be accidentally changed in pitch (i.e. with arrow keys or mistyped letter keys). In this mode, pitch editing should be still possible, but will require a confirmation.
Unwanted Pitch changes are hard to detect (if they are detected at all!) and this will often be too late for undoing.
The input option "Pitch before Duration" is very nice to have for composers like me who are searching for chords as they go. At the moment this is only accessible via Preferences, but it should be a toggle function with shortcut available.
Sibelius apparently not only uses MIDI Pitch Bends to play back a continuous glissando, but also adjusts MIDI "Pitch Bend Sensitivity". MIDI "Pitch Bend Sensitivity" alters the affect that any subsequent MIDI Pitch Bend has, by applying a scaling factor. Sibelius fails to reset MIDI "Pitch Bend Sensitivity" to its default value: 1. before starting score playback; 2. after the completion of gliss playback; 3. after "All ...more »
Please see for reference score my entry at http://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/chat/chat.pl?com=thread&start=667526&groupid=3& For certain instruments, when using quartertones, accents cause wrong pitches. Especially oboes, with accent >. Then I found that sometimes using legato slurs, or even the technical expression "legato" itself, caused the violins either to transpose a bit, or grace notes are added. !!! ...more »
