Angled Slash Chords

Chords symbols with an alternate bass note should be at an angle, NOT right next to each other (i.e. C/B). Sibelius only allows C/B, but if you want it how it is supposed to look, it has to be done manually and is a big pain.

There is a plug-in to make them vertical, but that means a polychord, NOT a chord with an alternate bass note.

Creating or Drawing my own symbols.

I really need a tool where I can draw the symbol that I want and put in the score. Finale has this feature, but why Sibelius don't have? I don't like the way to export graphic.

Create alternate chord progressions above main chord symbols

Most modern fake books such as The New Real Book have alternate chord progressions above the primary or original chords. In various cases these may indicate chords to be played on the second time through; hipper/jazzier chords that deviate from the composer's original conception; or notable reharmonizations employed by other artists. An easy way to display two (or more) concurrent chord progressions, stacked vertically, ...more »

Sibelius 7.5.1 breath mark malfunction

The new operable breath marks (commas) and caesuras in Sibelius 7.5.1 are a real blessing. But I have encountered one problem. Breath marks don't operate if the preceding note is tied. Can this problem be corrected? Also, it would be better if the commas appeared between the notes where the breath mark occurs. It takes time to manually nudge them all leftward, and sometimes they dislodge from the note where they ...more »

Global Harmony Track

I'd like to have a separate track that contained just the harmony (chord symbols) of the piece overall - it could be input or generated automatically by Sibelius. Then you could choose in which parts (and where on them) to show/hide the chord symbols. This way, if I change harmony later, all parts would update automatically. And I could show the harmony over, say, the piano part in the full score but only over the vocal ...more »

Chord Symbols Designer

Sibelius should have an option in which we could create our own Chord Symbols. The brazilian chord symbol patterns, for example, are way too different from the ones offered by the Program. In the Edit Chord Symbols you could have an option that enables us to write the Chord and design it the way we like better. For example: when the 9 comes over the 7, or the C7M instead of Cmaj7 (because of the brazilian notation patterns). ...more »

Add 7b10 chords

The American way of notating these chords is 7#9, but here in Holland we normally use the b10 notation, based on the idea that there is only one 9th in a chord (because if using two different versions of one note in chord would mean that you could write 7b3 or m7b11 or something for this chord), in which case 7b9#9-chords wouldn't exist...

Musica Ficta

Currently, to notate 'musica ficta' (an editorial accidental displayed above a note in renaissance music) you need to use an accidental from the symbols menu, with often a need to reposition it into the correct position yourself. It is then merely a symbol, and will not react when transposing a passage like a normal accidental would (e.g. changing from a sharp to a natural, when moving from a 'sharp' key into a 'flat' ...more »

Individual position for symbols

There is only one position setting for all symbols in the symbol chart, although these symbols have all possible different functions in the score.

An extra group of settings (which could be turned on/off) could define many settings individually, such as x/y positions, staff/system symbol, layout order, etc.

Clef change changes lines + symbol positions

When changing clefs, the position of - some - subsequent lines and symbols jumps with the notes; and then after another clef change it doesn't jump back to the initial position. This can cause for many objects to be wrongly placed, if the user doesn't watch out. PS: This only happens with some lines (which usually transpose), although that isn't possible to determine which ones they are. PSS: For lack of time I couldn't ...more »

"Realize Chord Symbol" plug-in: option to reuse generated staff

Here's a suggestion for REALIZE CHORD SYMBOLS: Add an option to "RE-USE GENERATED STAFF". With this option, the plug-in would need to give the generated staff (or staves) distinct names, such as "Gen. Piano Staff" and "Gen. Guitar TAB Staff". Then, if the "RE-USE" option is selected: *) If there is not already a "Gen. XXX Staff", then add one and proceed as currently. *) If there is already a "Gen. XXX Staff", ...more »

Chord Symbols not recognised in some languages

If the Sibelius user-interface language is set to (a) Brazilian Portuguese, or (b) Russian, then Chord Symbols (entered after Ctrl-K) are not recognised, and remain in red. Also, the list of available chord symbols in the dialogue "Edit Chord Symbols" is empty (which might be why Chord Symbols are not being recognised).
