Sometimes, a combination of system text and magnetic layout can cause the "optimize staff spacing" function to create large gaps in grand staves. Whilst this seems like an unlikely combination of events (and there is a workaround by switching off magnetic layout on the system text) it does happen often enough to be annoying and consistently enough to be considered a bug.
I'd like to have a text style ready for typing block lyrics on a blank page. Sometimes all the music fits on one page but the lyrics for 2nd verse and so on don't. So I'd need to have block lyrics for a blank page to have the same text style and formatting options. This is very usual with songbooks that the following verses are on a separate page with no music on it.
Similar to the stretchable accel, rit. lines that can be fit across multi-measures, I'd like to see a stretchable expression text line that can be activated by a key combo like expressions and used for long crescendos or diminuendos that cover multiple measures. Even thought the cresc./dim. are non-functional, there are many cases when the extended words are needed. Having a way to drag the word across multiple measures ...more »
Add a 'constrain proportions' check-box to the Text Frame Height and Width fields so you don't have to alter 2 numbers every time a text size adjustment is required. For example, to alter the Coda and Segno graphics' sizes in Repeat/DS text independently from the actual text.
Alternately, add a font size option back in.
The font size dialog boxes in the "Edit Text Style" dialog window have multiple problems. The most serious is that the font size displayed is always rounded to x.0 or x.5 points, even when the existing internal size is some other decimal fraction of a point. For instance, in the first attached graphic, the font sizes should be 19.8 and 16.2 (in this particular score) points, but the displayed sizes are 19.5 and 16.5 ...more »
If a text style has a different size for score and parts, and is copied inside a part, a copy of that text style is created, with both score and part sizes equal. This happens only when copying inside the part, not when copying in the score. E.g.: if text style "text" has the size of 11 in the score and 12 in the parts, making a copy inside a part creates the text style "text (2)", with size 12 in both score and parts. ...more »
Repro: 1. Create a new Sibelius score with default settings and at least one staff; 2. Enter some notes on a bar other then the first, on the top staff; 3. Attach some System Text (e.g. Tempo) to any note in that bar other than the first; 4. Select the System Text Object, and do "Reset Position"; 5. While the System Text Object is still selected, press up-arrow or down-arrow, with the intention of adjusting the text's ...more »
Note-attached System Text Objects (such as Tempo text) respond to "Align in a Row" by moving to a position 5 spaces higher than they should be for horizontal alignment with their other partners in the Align command. This has been tested with the other partner in the Align command being: Staff Text, System Symbols, Staff Symbols, and Staff Lines, all with consistent results: Note-attached System Text Objects are the odd ...more »
When creating a new score, you get the opportunity to specify backstage info like title, composer, etc. But then the score that is created has these values hard-coded into the text in the score. It should instead be using the standard macros like \$title\ and \$composer\. I end up having to replace these with every score, which doesn't make any sense.
I would like to be able to activate/deactivate the win-shortcuts when entering/editing text.
When writing sfz, rfz sfz etc. bold using the ctrl-key some shortcuts collide with the text.
This should only affect to the text-tools and user can active/deactivate it whenever they need it.
It would be really great if while entering dynamics one could add a hairpin or two and then finish entering the dynamics on the far side. I realize they are different object types, but what if a shortcut from within Expression text input would close the Expression text box, add the requested hairpin, and then open a new expression box after and perfectly aligned. A super nice thing would be to allow stretching or compressing ...more »
