The Scorch browser plugin is now incompatible with all major browsers on all computer platforms, because all major browsers are going to 64-bit. There is now no browser, 32-bit or 64-bit, that can run the Scorch plugin on the Mac platform. ScoreExchange just announced that they are trying to find a way not to use Sibelius Scorch to sell sheet music anymore, and so is every other business that relies on Sibelius Scorch ...more »
On Staves that contain more than one instrument, Sibelius should intelligently recognize and be able to split them into individual parts without all the hassle of filtering and deleting that needs to be done currently.
At present, Sibelius allows only one instrument per staff at one time. Although the staff can accommodate up to four "voices" of parallel notation, at present all voices play the same instrument. This proposal is that each "voice" should be independently assignable to different instruments, if required. One application is the classic Soprano/Alto and Tenor/Bass sharing of staves in compact choral notation. Similar needs ...more »
Sib 7 introduced a very large music library. Terrific idea--poor design. Every single score has to--essentially--reload the engine. Have 20 channels assigned to score A? 24 channels assigned to score B? If you have A in the foreground, and click on B (even by mistake) you have to sit and wait while sounds are loaded. Very large sound libraries (e.g. Hauptwerk, VSL) load in a separate process. You launch that application ...more »
The 's' command creates slurs for a selected passage in only one staff. It would be very helpful, if Sibelius would create slurs for all selected staves instead! Same feature would be great for hairpins, actually!
At present, if a chord is spread across both staves of a grand staff, one can attach (using keypad 5) an arpeggio line either to the treble staff chord, or to the bass staff chord. The arpeggio line can be lengthened to spread across both staves, so that it looks correct visually. But, on playback, only the notes on the staff to which the arpeggio lines was attached will arpeggiate: the notes on the other staff will ...more »
At present, Sibelius does not playback microtones automatically, but requires assistance from a plug-in which generates extra MIDI instructions. This proposal is that Sibelius should automatically handle whatever is needed to achieve microtonal playback directly from the notation. As an added extra, it should also allow the user to specify the tuning of the micro-tones.
Absolute important for publisher...! Please add group-names. The solution might be the following: Add 2 text-fields on the instrument-panel labelled "name in group" and "short name in group". A doubleclick onto a sub-bracket opens a dialogbox where one can enter the full name and a short name of the group, the alignment and whether the inst.name (entered on the instrument-panel) will be left or right of the sub-bracket. ...more »
Users should have the possibility to enter "non-classic" key signatures, like "f sharp and b flat", or "just e flat".
I really need a tool where I can draw the symbol that I want and put in the score. Finale has this feature, but why Sibelius don't have? I don't like the way to export graphic.
