Currently it's not possible to transpose notes with slashes for note heads. If I create a rhythm sheet for guitar and want to copy it to the piano, the notes (slashes) are no longer in the middle of the staff. The command to transpose up or down an octave doesn't work on these notes. The workaround is to change the note heads to regular ones, transpose and change back. This only works if all your notes are slashes or ...more »
I know this sounds like something drastic, and it is, but that doesn't mean I'm suggesting scrapping the whole Sibelius program and rebuilding it from scratch... that would be stupid... However, I do propose some serious changes. Andrew Noah Cap mentioned on my "New and Improved Instruments" thread that Sibelius is currently not meeting the needs of its customers, as both the engraving and the playback need serious ...more »
I would really like to be able to write plugins that would work on Scorch. The possibilities to adjust notation to suit the end user are already so great with Sibelius and ManuScript, but it's hard to deliver that individualised experience to the users who need it most, because they usually don't have access to the full version of the program.
Apologize on forehand for my English. It is not my native language. Music has never be meant for our eyes. I totally agree with Charlotte Wrinch, she wrote a great article. But even her statement doesn't go far enough for a lot of us. However, this article is inspired by Charlotte's letter to Sibelius.Thank you for that. Developers: People like Charlotte Wrinch, myself and a lot of other composers take the effort ...more »
For folk music with 8 or 16 bar phrases, of which the first, say, 2 measures repeat twice, informal notation often permits two choices to avoid unnecessary duplication. Played structure: A1 A2 A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6. Notated structure: [A1 A2] A3 A4 A5 A6 Informal notations: A) A repeat line over the two measure that only operates locally and always plays back in full. The Swedes call this "bis" ("twice"). -- or -- B) ...more »
Reported a bug that wasn't an issue. Cannot delete it!
I can't believe there is less of a fuss about this... but the fact that Sibelius plays a clip from a Sibelius symphony every time it starts is very, VERY annoying. It lasts forever, it's loud, and it gets in the way of users doing any productive work (if you're launching it by opening a file to resume work, it basically forces you to wait for 20 seconds before you can actually do anything - which is appallingly bad user ...more »
Only one voice in score responds to playback. Nothing is muted and mixer shows all voices active...just no sound. Using 7.5....HELP!!!
So often I want to copy only the notes AND rests from a bar, but with chord changes, dynamics, text, etc. I can only quickly select the notes. Often that's enough, but there are plenty of times when a phrase begins with a rest that if included in the selection would make pasting much quicker.
MUSIC EDUCATORS! wouldn't it be great if there was a better way to create worksheets, tests, interactive presentations and much more? Well I think Avid should make a 'musical object creator' (alternative option to creating a new score) that can easily and quickly create a variety of interactive and non-interactive musical objects, symbols and sandboxed bars/staves that can be exported at the click of a button to either ...more »
The Boomwhacker plugin was better with Sib5. It colored each note of a chord with it’s appropriate color. It would be great to have that feature back.
