If a chord is both (a) stem-down, and (b) contains intervals of seconds, then either (1) the stem position is incorrect horizontally, or (2) the lengths of ties to and from each side of the chord is mis-computed. See attached graphic for an example.
The attached graphics are taken from a score which has the option "Clip at end of systems" activated in Engraving Rules -> Slurs. So, the slur shown in fact terminates in the first bar of the next system (which is not shown in the graphics). The slur shown should appear to be clipped at the right-hand margin of the current staff. But, as can be seen in the first attached graphic, the slur in fact ends by dangling incorrectly ...more »
Using Sibelius 7 First, if one configures an additional VST search folder in Audio Engine Options -> Folders, then the new configuration is retained for that session, but lost when Sibelius 7 First is closed and re-launched.
Thus it is impossible to add VSTs to Sibelius 7 First using this method.
Suppose one has a normal chord consisting of thirds or more, so all noteheads are to the right of the stem, and suppose every notehead has a scoop attached to the left. Then add an extra note to the chord, a second above an existing note, so that the new notehead is displaced to the left of the stem. Then [BUG] all the previous scoops disappear, and only the new note to the left of the stem is allowed to display a jazz ...more »
Note-attached System Text Objects (such as Tempo text) respond to "Align in a Row" by moving to a position 5 spaces higher than they should be for horizontal alignment with their other partners in the Align command. This has been tested with the other partner in the Align command being: Staff Text, System Symbols, Staff Symbols, and Staff Lines, all with consistent results: Note-attached System Text Objects are the odd ...more »
System Line Objects, of any sort, do not move vertically in response to an "Align in a Row" command, regardless of what other objects are selected for the Align. As a result, for instance, it is not possible to align System Lines such as "rall..." with System Text Objects such as Tempo text. System Lines are also odd in that (a) they do not display attachment lines, and (b) they do not display Object Rulers when Object ...more »
Repro: 1. Create a new Sibelius score with default settings and at least one staff; 2. Enter some notes on a bar other then the first, on the top staff; 3. Attach some System Text (e.g. Tempo) to any note in that bar other than the first; 4. Select the System Text Object, and do "Reset Position"; 5. While the System Text Object is still selected, press up-arrow or down-arrow, with the intention of adjusting the text's ...more »
In previous versions of Sibelius, one could perform a marquee (or lasso) selection of multiple objects, by Shift-dragging (Windows) or Command-dragging (Mac) a rectangular box around them.
In Sibelius 8.0.0, marquee selection does not work, except for the sub-case of a passage-selection when the marquee includes a complete staff. Selections of all other types of object do not work.
Previous versions of Sibelius 7.x on Windows installed a folder short-cut in the Start menu for the "User Data" folder, which is at a location which is by default hidden by Windows.
The new Sibelius 8.0.0 does not supply the "User Data" folder short-cut. Please bring it back!
Sibelius playback does not function correctly if, in "Audio Engine Options", the ASIO interface to any ASUS Xonar sound card is selected. In "Audio Engine Options", the only "Buffer size" available is limited to a single selection of 4 samples, which is too small for any quality playback to occur. It is reported that ASUS Xonar card ASIO interfaces work well in Finale, Digital Performer, etc., so this problem might ...more »
All the shipping House Styles that have the word "Plantin" in their name are corrupt in the sense that the majority of drum-maps for 5-line staff unpitched percussion instruments have all noteheads incorrectly changed to notehead style 0 (plain), when in the drum-map for the same instruments in the non-corrupt House Styles, a variety of notehead styles appear in each drum-map, as to be expected. See attached graphics ...more »
When entering text into a Figured Bass text object, two different symbols are allocated to the same keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-5).
