Hyperlinks in Sibelius were high on Daniel's list of improvements shortly before the shutters came down on The Old Toy Factory. Michael Ost likened it to HTML, and in a way, it is. For writers of analyses, methods and histories, it would enable authors to write completely within Sibelius, thus obviating a trip to any 3rd party software. So how could it work? Put the text and graphics on a blank page. At the end paragraph ...more »
Any possibility of a right-click drop-down menu for the figures and "accidentals" when entering figured bass?
I was experimenting with the new Scorch on an Intel Mac using various browsers and was surprised to find that it was taking 30 seconds plus to load a simple, one-line part of eight bars, irrespective of the browser. I think that this is a bug as the previous version in its prime was much quicker.
It would be nice if Sibelius Scorch had a metronome. This would be of immense help to beginners and opens up the prospect of being able to write instructional tutorials entirely within HTML.
On a Mac, there are two ways of closing a file, either by clicking on the red closure button, or by Command-W. the red closure button leaves the Sibelius menu bar open. Command-W leaves the ribbon and a blank Sibelius pane open. It would be nice if either/both routines left the ribbon open with a view of the desktop beneath. Not sure if this is a bug or a suggested feature.
Since Apple broke Adobe's Virtual PDF Printer, there's been no way to effectively print/export a folder of scores to PDF. There is a plug-in, but it doesn't work for me and opens every Sibelius score whilst exporting to PDF. The Adobe Virtual Printer converted all Sibelius scores without having to open any of them. It would be nice if this could be a feature embedded in Sibelius, say, as an export option.
It would be a great time-save to be able to set scores to open at "Fit Width" in the same way as one can set a PDF file to open in a pre-determined way.
The Sibelius Demo is currently a daunting 600 Mb or so download. It would be much more convenient to potential Sibelius users to have a smaller version to download with not all the features enabled, especially for student users and those with slow connections.
If Sibelius files could call other Sibelius files, it would be possible to write entire books using Sibelius. This would be especially useful for educators at all levels and would make exporting Sibelius books to mobile media extremely easy, particularly on the iPad. It would also obviate the necessity to place text and graphics in one program whilst having the musical examples in Sibelius.
Scorch runs well on the iPad and it would be a useful adjunct to its playback feature to have a limited composition feature. This would be extremely useful for young musicians who would become future Sibelius users.
Each new version of Sibelius sets the playback volume at around 70% of full volume. It would be extremely helpful to have a preference pane to be able to preset playback volumes globally. This would be helpful for young users of Sibelius.
It would be very useful to be able to have a Preference pane to select always showing the Transport when Sibelius is launched. At present, Transport has to be selected for each score opened. This would be especially useful for young Sibelius users.
